A Simple New Year

Wow!! { exhales } Hello 2017 – and to my blog and any and all readers I may { or may not! } have out there! To say it’s been a heck of a long time since my last post would be a huge understatement. But never the less, here I am. I am so ready to get back into what my heart and soul has missed since taking a sabbatical.

Looking back, 2016 was a year of change. A lot of different things happened, both good and bad. I’ve had a chance to reflect and take it all in and really define what it is I want for 2017 and beyond. I don’t know if it’s because I am getting older { and wiser! ha ha 😉 } but I am finding more and more I want to do with less. A lot less. Less house, more home. Less work, more play. Less stuff, more memories. In general, just a lot less bullshit. I don’t take part in making a resolution at this time of year but instead I make realistic goals to strive for. I also tend to choose a word I aim to fulfill my life with. In keeping with my thoughts on wanting to do with less, my word for 2017 is: simplify.

Upon my deep reflections and some serious research I have reached the conclusion that in order to apply more simplicity to my life I want to take on a form of a minimalist lifestyle. Nothing too extreme as in you “must live with less than 100 things, you can’t own a car or a home or a television, you can’t have a career, you must live in exotic hard-to-pronounce places all over the world” kind of way but in a way that it “simply allows you to make decisions more consciously, more deliberately.”

Since reaching this conclusion I’ve experienced a huge mindset change that I am super excited to further explore. I know it’ll be hard but I also know it will be super rewarding the more I incorporate the tool of minimalism in my life. I want to reach true happiness not through things but through life itself.
