Hello! My name is Annie. I am a thirty something wife, mama to two and I have a huge obsession with all things design related. I love creating a cozy, comfortable home for our little family. I believe not only should your house be your home but that it can be done on a modest budget and let’s be honest – a ton of patience. I also love graphic design and creating fun products.
My days are filled with checking things off my project list throughout the house or designing pretty things and filling up my various online stores with products that I not only love but spend a lot of time creating. I am a self proclaimed “fontaholic” with a love for all things pretty and good design – both graphically and interior. After a days work you will find me with my two active children. One is in competitive swimming and the other in hockey. I joke that I am also a chauffeur as our schedule involves a lot of driving one child here and making sure to get the other to another location. All this is makes for a full calendar but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
On the weekends I love to enjoy my morning coffee with my husband and relax after a busy week. We enjoy quiet nights in, enjoying a bottle of wine and catching up with TV series and movies on Netflix. We love trying new foods and taking time to enjoy the little things in life.
My love for interior design started when my then boyfriend, now husband, and I bought our own sweet humble abode, our first home, our townhouse we have called home for almost 12 years now. It was a dated blank canvas then but I saw the potential it had and we were proud to call it our very own. We were each mere 20 years old and at the time also planning our wedding shortly after the purchase of our home. We didn’t have the financial means to truly dive into my huge bucket list I had for this house but with a lot of patience and a lot of planning we’ve chipped away at it all these years. It wasn’t until about two years ago that we were able to make the the biggest items on my list happen and it’s truly helped with making this house our home.
I love our home, and while it’s not my dream home, it’s cozy, filled with things I love, and truly reflects the characters who live here. I firmly believe you can create a beautiful space on a tight budget and don’t have to live in a multi-million dollar home to have a beautiful space. Willow & Hawthorne has become my journal in documenting the process of the transformation of our humble abode, how we do life and all things in between. I love to be able to look back and see how far we’ve come. I hope to inspire others to invest in making their own houses into their home sweet home.
